Kennewick City Council


Councilman Moak took office in 1998, and was elected Mayor January 2009. Downtown revitalization and improving the overall aesthetics of the City have been among his priorities. He has been very active on several subcommittees, including the Shoreline Master Plan & Critical Areas Ordinance Committee, the US 395 Corridor Study Committee, in addition to the West Columbia Park Joint Task Force. Mr. Moak is currently serving on the Benton Franklin Community Action Committee, Coliseum Joint Advisory Committee, Interview Committee, Joint Kennewick & Richland Council Committee, Kennewick General Hospital Joint Committee, and Regional Oversight Committee.

Councilman Price started her service on the City Council in 1998, and since 2000, has served as Mayor Pro-Tem. Having previously been Kennewick’s City Clerk for 23 years, she understands the details of administration and the City’s municipal codes. Mrs. Price is also a registered professional parliamentarian. She is currently serving on the Joint Kennewick and Richland Council Committee, Kennewick General Hospital Joint Committee, Kennewick FOCUS group, Tri City Area Chamber of Commerce, Regional Oversight Committee, and as an alternate on the Energy Communities Alliance and Tri-Cities Industrial Development Council (TRIDEC). She also serves on the West Columbia Park Joint Task Force.

Councilman Hempstead was elected to the City Council in 1998. He has worked to promote economic development for the community, with emphasis on strong, family-wage jobs, and creating a family-friendly community with adequate recreation and other activities. Mr. Hempstead is currently serving on the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee, Emergency Medical Services Council, Tri-Cities Development Council (TRIDEC), Joint Kennewick and Richland Council Committee, and the West Columbia Park Joint Task Force. He is also an alternate on the Benton County Economic Development Capital Projects Committee and Benton-Franklin Council of Governments Tri-Mats Policy Advisory Committee.

Councilman Olson began serving on the City Council in 1988. He has continued to work towards improving local transportation infrastructure, including a push for greater regional cooperation on transportation issues. He is a strong supporter of small, local businesses. He is currently serving on the Ben Franklin Transit Board, Benton-Franklin Council of Governments (BFCG), BFCG Policy Advisory Committee for Solid Waste Management, BFCG Surface Transportation Program, and BFCG Tri-Mats Policy Advisory Committee. He also serves on the Good Roads & Transportation Association and Interview Committee.

Councilman Parish was elected to the City Council in 1996. Among other things, he has sought the enhancement of Columbia Park, the improvement of City appearance, and the purchase of downtown property owned by the railroad, to further a revitalization effort in that area of the City. Mr. Parish is currently serving on the Benton County Law and Justice Council, Disability Board, Benton Clean Air Agency, Interview Committee, Hanford Area Economic Investment Fund Committee, and Kennewick Police Community Advisory Team. He is also an alternate for the Ben Franklin Transit Board, Good Roads & Transportation Association, Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership, and the Tri-Cities Visitor & Convention Bureau Board.

Councilman Parks was elected at large to the City Council in 2002. His areas of emphasis for the City include economic development and increasing overall citizen involvement and trust in local government. He is currently serving on the Hanford Advisory Board and Hanford Communities Governing Board. He is also an alternate on the Benton-Franklin Council of Governments and the Kennewick Police Community Advisory Team. Mr. Parks also serves as Council liaison to the Parks and Recreation Commission.
Councilman Young was appointed to fill a vacant position in December 2008. He previously served on the Planning and Civil Service Commissions and the Kennewick Public Facilities District Board of Directors. His experience and background will serve him well in his current assignments on the Block Grant Advisory Committee, Energy Communities Alliance, Disability Board, Tri-Cities Visitor & Convention Bureau, and the Coliseum Joint Advisory Committee. He is an alternate with the Tri-City Area Chamber of Commerce and the Benton Clean Air Agency.
