Project Update

2/5/2010

On February 4, 2010, the first of two open houses was conducted at the Clover Island Inn.  The workshop gave the public the first look at the ideas that came out of the workshops that were held in October and November of 2009.  Composits of each topic addressed at the workshops were shown as maps and illustrations.During a question and answer session, the consultant explained that the materials presented were merely to display those ideas brought forward in the workshops and that further comment and critique from the public was needed to gain an understanding of which ideas had the most public support so that a plan could be formulated.

You can view the display boards that were presented at the workshop below.

As of the beginning of 2010 all of the neighborhood workshops and the city-wide workshop had been conducted. Each workshop generated several ideas.  Many ideas were similar across each neighborhood. Below is a summary of the workshops and the ideas produced there as well as the maps that were created at each workshop.

Neighborhood #3 Neighborhood #4 Neighborhood #5
Neighborhood #6 Neighborhood #7

As part of the planning process, an online survey and interviews with key stakeholders was conducted. The first online survey opened in October 2009 and closed in January 2010.  A second survey will be opened soon.

The consultant team also conducted interviews with stakeholders within the community that the were identified by the consultant team and the Task Force.  Those interviewed include representatives from local, state, federal and tribal governments, as well as community organizations.

A summary of the survey results and interview responses can be found below.
